The rapid development of AI computing power is driving growth in electricity demand. At a press conference held by the National Development and Reform Commission on November 6, Ge Ju, deputy director of the Development Planning Department of the National Energy Administration, stated that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the rapid development of emerging industries such as computing power will drive China's electricity demand to continue growing. It is expected that in the next few years, approximately 600 billion kWh of electricity consumption will be added annually—equivalent to adding the electricity consumption of three Shanghais each year.
