On November 6, Ambassador Dai Bing attended a symposium organized by the Korea-China Economic Association at the invitation of the association, where he exchanged views with former South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun and members of the association on China-ROK economic cooperation. Ambassador Dai noted that China-ROK economic relations have entered a new phase marked by improved quality and greater resilience. The cooperation model is shifting from a vertical division of labor to horizontal collaboration, and "cooperating amid competition and competing amid cooperation" has become the new normal. Against the current backdrop of volatility and adjustment in the global economy, China-ROK cooperation faces both challenges and major opportunities. The two sides should work together to foster an open Asia-Pacific economy and uphold the international free trade system and the stability of industrial and supply chains. As global leaders in science and technology and manufacturing, the two countries should implement the important consensus reached by their heads of state, deepen existing cooperation, and expand collaboration in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, the digital industry, and biomedicine. By leveraging China's mega-market and the geographical proximity between the two countries, they can drive China-ROK economic cooperation to leap from "industrial complementarity" to "innovative symbiosis."
