The 2026 Mobile Network Conference convened in Guangzhou. In a video address, Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon reflected on the technological value and development milestones of 4G and 5G, observing that AI is now driving a new wave of transformation—reshaping how devices operate, how humans interact with machines, and how devices connect to networks, while giving rise to a diverse array of personal AI devices and AI agents. The Snapdragon platform is designed to support both on-device and cloud-based AI workloads. Qualcomm's collaboration with China Mobile has expanded beyond smartphones into areas such as AI glasses and robotics, yielding notable results including the deployment of the Jiutian on-device AI model and the Lingxi 2.0 personal AI agent. The two parties are also advancing R&D in the 6G domain, having completed the world's first interoperability test between a U6G band base station prototype and a 6G terminal prototype this September—a milestone that propels 6G from technical research into system verification. Amon stated that 6G is a native-AI wireless communication system built for the AI era, one that will achieve deep integration of connectivity, computing, and AI. Qualcomm looks forward to continuing its work with China Mobile and ecosystem partners to bring AI to billions of consumers, drive 6G technology development, and empower the digital transformation of industries across the board.
