Cat Wu, former Product Lead for Claude Code at Anthropic, has announced that she is joining OpenAI as Head of Core Product Management. In her new role, she will work on core product and agent-related initiatives, reporting to Tibo Sottiaux. Wu is a Chinese American whose career spans software engineering, venture capital, and product management. She joined Anthropic in the summer of 2024, where she led product planning and commercialization for Claude Code, driving the product's annualized run-rate revenue past $2.5 billion, and also oversaw related products for non-coding use cases. Wu said she recognizes OpenAI's ability to scale AI and looks forward to working with the team to build agents that help individuals and teams get work done while keeping users in control. Her departure is unrelated to any share sale arrangements.
