November 5 — Spain-based renewable energy company Zelestra Corp. SA, controlled by private equity firm EQT AB, plans to invest €10.5 billion (approximately $11.8 billion) over four years to meet the growing energy needs of U.S. artificial intelligence projects. CEO Leonardo Moreno said the plan is part of the company's not-yet-public 2026–2030 strategy, with a key focus being a significant push into the U.S. market. "AI operations cannot run without electricity," Moreno said. "AI customers need energy partners that can provide customized solutions, and most of these customers are in the United States." As the U.S. sharply increases renewable energy investment to support AI infrastructure buildout, solar and battery storage accounted for 70% of newly added power generation capacity in the first half of 2026, prompting companies like Zelestra to expand generation capacity and strengthen their presence in the U.S. market.
