On November 4, OpenAI released its image generation model Images 2.6, now available to users worldwide through ChatGPT, Codex, and the API. The model generates images 50% faster than its predecessor and offers improved detail control in multi-turn editing, along with better consistency for characters, products, and brand elements. Images 2.6 also introduces a GIF generation feature that can transform static images, characters, or product visuals into looping animations. On the API side, two versions are available: GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst. Both support features such as image annotation editing, SVG export, and complexity parameters. Flare can generate images in as little as 6 seconds at lower quality settings, while Sunburst is designed for higher quality and greater editing consistency.
