Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 27.3, debuting the first batch of Apple Intelligence and Siri feature experiences for China mainland models. The rollout covers writing tools, real-time translation, a photo eraser, Genmoji, and notification summaries—marking the first time Apple's AI features are being made available to users in the China mainland. This update integrates Alibaba's Qwen into Siri, Visual Intelligence, and writing tools, while Visual Intelligence's visual search is powered by Baidu Search. Siri now features a glowing interaction design that wraps around the screen edge and supports switching to text input by double-tapping the bottom of the screen. It can also invoke Qwen to answer basic questions; for more personalized solutions, users can jump to the Qwen app to sync conversation data and receive tailored suggestions. Real-time translation covers Messages, Phone, and FaceTime, though the latter two support one-on-one calls only. AirPods translation requires the earbuds to be updated to the latest firmware and paired with an iPhone that has Apple Intelligence enabled. The first batch of features supports the iPhone 15 Pro series, the entire iPhone 16 series, and later models, as well as iPhone Air and iPhone Duo; both the device language and Siri language must be set to Simplified Chinese or English. The new Siri AI previewed at WWDC 2026 has yet to launch—this update nevertheless marks a step forward in Apple's localized AI deployment in the Chinese market.
