On the afternoon of November 2, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with Oman's Sultan Haitham, who was on a state visit to China. Premier Li stated that China is ready to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Oman, deepen cooperation across the entire oil and gas industrial chain, advance more high-quality clean energy projects, and expand cooperation in areas such as agriculture and fisheries, aerospace and satellites, information and communications, and artificial intelligence. He also expressed China's willingness to promote the early conclusion of negotiations for a China-GCC free trade agreement, so as to achieve higher-level mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. The two sides should expand cultural, educational, and other people-to-people exchanges, facilitate two-way personnel flows, and enhance friendship between the two countries. Amid the current complex international situation, China and Oman, both belonging to the Global South, should maintain close communication and coordination in multilateral affairs and jointly safeguard world peace and stability. In light of the recent repeated turbulence in the Middle East, China is willing, in keeping with a series of major initiatives and propositions put forward by President Xi Jinping, to work with Oman to promote the early restoration of peace and tranquility in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
