On November 2, the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) announced that major online audiovisual platforms have reported the results of October's special governance campaign targeting "AI-distorted modification" videos, with more than 11,000 violating videos removed and over 30 offending accounts penalized. According to the NRTA's deployment, a special governance campaign against "AI-distorted modification" videos launched in January 2026 has yielded tangible results. To consolidate those gains, since February 1 the effort has been advanced through a normalized and institutionalized long-term mechanism. The NRTA is supervising major platforms to further fulfill their primary responsibilities and strengthen daily inspections, with a focus on removing violating videos that use "AI-distorted modifications" of classic film and television works—including adaptations of the Four Great Classical Novels, historical dramas, revolutionary-themed productions, and portrayals of heroic role models—while simultaneously clearing all types of cult-related animations, continuously fostering a healthy online audiovisual ecosystem.
