On November 2, the Turkish Competition Authority (TCA) initiated an antitrust investigation into Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode features. The probe will examine whether these features harm the interests of news publishers and content creators—including by causing declines in website traffic and imposing unfair terms on content usage. The authority has asked Google to ensure that its terms for using news content are non-discriminatory, reflect the economic value of that content, and allow publishers to decide independently whether to authorize AI services to use their content—without affecting how that content is displayed and indexed across other Google services.
