On 2 November, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) released its first Survey on the Use and Readiness of Artificial Intelligence among Large-Scale Institutions. Conducted from July to August 2026, the survey covered 20 large financial institutions and their 78 affiliated licensed corporations in Hong Kong, which together accounted for 75% of securities market trading in the first half of this year. The results show that all surveyed institutions have already adopted AI, 95% expect to accelerate adoption in the coming year, 90% have used or are evaluating AI for defending against cyberattacks, and 55% are using or trialing agentic AI. However, institutions noted that scaling AI adoption responsibly still faces challenges.
