Spotify is reportedly planning to roll out an AI-powered music remix service in the first quarter of 2027—possibly timing its official launch to coincide with the Grammy Awards in February—and intends to charge subscribers an additional $4 to $5 per month for the feature. Paying subscribers would be able to use AI to adapt and generate customized versions of songs. Royalties generated from fan remixes would be returned to the original artists, and plays would count toward the Spotify chart data of the corresponding original songs. Spotify has already reached licensing agreements with Universal Music Group, the independent label alliance Merlin, and French music company Believe, and is still in negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music to move the feature's launch forward.
