Google Gemini has now made its brand-new file editing feature available to all users. Users can generate, preview, and edit PDFs, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Slides, Markdown, TXT, and code files directly within Gemini. PDF preview and editing are supported on both web and mobile, while other formats are currently limited to the web version only. Users can modify files without leaving Gemini and can open documents in full-screen editing mode, select text to ask Gemini questions, or have it modify content. Previously, Gemini already supported file generation and downloading, and users could also edit files through its integration with Google Workspace. Earlier this year, Anthropic also introduced the ability to generate and edit documents and presentations within the Claude chat window.
