Anthropic's engineering lead, Felix Rieseberg, announced that the team has completely abolished traditional LeetCode-style coding interviews, arguing that in the era of widespread AI adoption, such interviews have lost their reference value. AI has lowered the barrier to accumulating programming knowledge, and engineers' output no longer heavily relies on years of experience. Newcomers who can quickly turn ideas into reality with the help of AI often outpace their senior counterparts. Drawing from his own experience, Rieseberg pointed out that while young engineers often lack decision-making power, their 'naivety' helps them break free from rigid organizational thinking and uncover opportunities overlooked by veteran employees. To this end, he offered five pieces of advice for junior engineers: prioritize business impact, choose bold ideas, build working prototypes over weekends, focus on refining a single idea, and leverage their fresh perspective to gain authentic experiences. Currently, he has not yet established a complete new interview system but pays special attention to small-scale prototype projects in resumes and portfolios that demonstrate taste, empathy, and principled thinking when screening talent.
