At the opening ceremony of the 26th China International Industry Fair, Wang Xingxing, founder of Unitree Robotics, reflected on his biggest regret over the past decade: underestimating the potential of AI. He predicted that the technological turning point for embodied intelligence could arrive within the next one to two years. To gauge this pivotal moment in the robotics industry, he proposed a benchmark: when robots can accomplish 80% of tasks in 80% of unfamiliar settings using only voice commands, the sector will have reached a critical inflection point.
Wang also pointed out that while widespread adoption of robots in factory settings remains hindered by challenges in generalization and efficiency, these obstacles are expected to be overcome in the coming years. Additionally, he highlighted that advancements in commercial service applications are likely to outpace those in industrial environments, while residential applications may see slower progress.
