In 2026, President Trump of the United States issued an executive order mandating federal government agencies to cease using the term “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” in official documents, public communications, and policy guidelines. Instead, they were directed to adopt the term “Super Intelligence (SI).” This initiative is designed to dispel the negative connotations of risk associated with the word “artificial,” emphasize technological progress, and set the stage for more lenient regulatory approaches and the establishment of a self-regulatory framework for corporations. In response, major tech companies in Silicon Valley have taken action: Elon Musk declared that SpaceX AI would be rebranded as SpaceX SI; NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, described data centers as “super intelligence factories”; and Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, also started incorporating the term “super intelligence” in his public remarks. Furthermore, six prominent tech firms signed the “White House Super Intelligence Agreement,” which substitutes strict regulations with industry-led commitments.
