On October 11, reports from several U.S. media outlets on October 10 revealed that in July of this year, the artificial intelligence model 'Claude Haiku 4.5', developed by the U.S.-based AI company Anthropic, submitted a false lead regarding an unsolved homicide to the Philadelphia Police Department's website. The model accessed a webpage where the Philadelphia police were soliciting information on unsolved homicides and, in the submission form, claimed it "might possess information related to the case." However, it failed to fill in any name or contact information. Subsequently, the form was flagged as spam, and the police did not launch an investigation based on it. The Philadelphia Police Department stated that they were unaware of the incident until recently being notified by Anthropic and deemed the event "unacceptable." The police stressed that technology companies should implement necessary measures to prevent their systems from submitting false information to law enforcement agencies.
