On September 28, 2026, Tencent Yuanbao officially rolled out the early access phase of its desktop companion feature, currently being introduced in a controlled, grayscale manner. Users on both Windows and macOS platforms can upgrade their Yuanbao PC client to version v2.87 or higher. By clicking on the avatar located in the bottom-left corner, they can access "My Desktop Companion" and activate the feature. The Yuanbao desktop companion is designed to keep users informed about the real-time progress of background tasks that take a while to complete. Upon the completion of these tasks, it offers unique animated alerts. Moreover, users have the convenience of dragging and dropping files and images directly into the application. It also facilitates copy translation, assists in webpage reading, keeps users company during idle moments, occasionally shares light-hearted jokes, and even reminds users to stay hydrated and take breaks for physical activity.
