On October 9, as technology companies accelerate the construction of faster AI data centers, Lumentum revealed that its production capacity for optoelectronic components is nearly fully booked, with this supply-demand imbalance expected to persist until 2029. Earlier this year, NVIDIA invested $2 billion in Lumentum, which primarily supplies advanced indium phosphide devices crucial for high-speed cloud computing and data transmission. Lumentum CEO Michael Hurlston stated that the company will be unable to meet approximately 70% of product demand next year, with this figure still reaching 30% by 2028. Hurlston had previously indicated that the company's capacity is expected to be fully booked by 2028. He emphasized, 'We are making every effort to expand capacity, but it still falls far short of meeting customer demand. Currently, all capacity is fully booked, and we see no signs of relief in the short term.'
