According to individuals with insider knowledge of the situation, Tencent Holdings is contemplating the issuance of offshore bonds with a total value of up to US$5 billion. These bonds are likely to be denominated in both US dollars and offshore Chinese yuan. There is a possibility that the bond issuance could take place as soon as this month. In June of this year, Tencent successfully raised close to US$4.7 billion by issuing long-term bonds in both US dollars and Chinese yuan. This marked the company's most significant fundraising endeavor since 2020. The proceeds from these bond issuances are primarily earmarked for debt refinancing and various corporate initiatives, including the advancement of AI products and services.
