Broadcom is in the process of securing more than $50 billion in financing to support its custom AI chip project, which it is developing in collaboration with OpenAI. Sources close to the situation have indicated that Apollo Global Management and Blackstone are among the key lenders participating in the ongoing financing discussions. Concurrently, Oracle is also engaged in talks with Apollo and Goldman Sachs to secure funds for chip procurement. As the expenses associated with constructing data centers continue to escalate, technology companies are increasingly turning to external financing solutions.

To cater to the burgeoning demand for AI software and services, major tech companies are making substantial investments in AI infrastructure and are actively exploring novel financing channels. In June of this year, Broadcom unveiled the creation of a financing platform, with Apollo and Blackstone serving as its cornerstone investors. This platform is slated to offer financial backing for over 20 gigawatts of computing power to AI developers such as Anthropic and OpenAI by 2028. The initial phase of the platform, spearheaded by Apollo in partnership with Blackstone, boasts a scale of $35 billion.
