On October 8, Anthropic unveiled Claude Haiku 5.5, claiming it to be the company's fastest and most capable small model to date. This model is primarily designed for high-frequency, cost-sensitive scenarios such as summarization, classification, database queries, customer service, browser operations, and AI agent subtasks. Compared to Haiku 4.5, Haiku 5.5 reduces average operational costs by approximately 75%, with input and output prices for requests under 100,000 tokens set at $0.1 and $0.5 per million tokens, respectively. Additionally, Haiku 5.5 introduces, for the first time in the Haiku series, a feature allowing adjustable reasoning intensity. Meanwhile, Anthropic has halved the cache read price for Sonnet 5.5 to $0.1 per million tokens, expecting a cost reduction of approximately 20% for most agent tasks. Currently, Haiku 5.5 is available on platforms including the Claude Platform, AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
