According to Bloomberg, analysts from Bloomberg Intelligence highlighted that, thanks to ongoing advancements by Chinese AI research labs such as DeepSeek, the performance gap between AI models in China and the U.S. has narrowed dramatically to a historic low, posing a challenge to U.S. technological leadership. Following DeepSeek’s release of V4.1 Flash in September, China’s top-performing model was found to be only 3% behind its U.S. counterparts in benchmark evaluations. The rapid ascent of China’s AI sector can be attributed to enhanced professional expertise and tailored optimizations for domestically developed hardware. Additionally, China’s open-source approach and cost-effective strategies are reshaping the global AI competitive landscape.
