On October 1st, Google's DeepMind unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, a state-of-the-art model. Google reports that this model exhibits outstanding performance in intricate tasks, including software engineering, corporate knowledge work (spanning legal and financial sectors), and cybersecurity defense. At present, Gemini 4 Argon is being provided to a select group of trusted cybersecurity defense professionals through the 'Fairwind Program'. It will be gradually rolled out to developers, businesses, and consumers after security measures are further enhanced. Regarding pricing, the model is priced at a minimum of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Cached input tokens are priced 95% lower than standard input tokens. Google pointed out that Argon supports output lengths of up to 1 million tokens, significantly surpassing the previous limit of 64,000 tokens, thereby enabling it to manage longer and more complex tasks. Currently, Argon has been utilized for internal code development, research, and engineering optimization tasks at Google. This includes aiding the quantum computing team in algorithm optimization, analyzing data center operational data, and successfully freeing up over 300TiB of memory resources. In the realm of software engineering, Gemini 4 Argon achieved a score of 77.9% on the DeepSWE v1.1 real-world software engineering test. It also performed exceptionally well in evaluations across financial research, legal research, enterprise automation, and other fields. In cybersecurity, Google stated that Argon is capable of autonomously identifying, verifying, and rectifying software vulnerabilities. It scored 68% on the CWE-bench v1 vulnerability repair test, tying for the top spot with leading models. Google also underscored that prior to its full public release, security measures such as anti-abuse protections, defenses against prompt injection attacks, model behavior monitoring, and secure sandboxes will be further bolstered. Looking ahead, Gemini 4 Argon will be accessible to paying API customers and Google AI Ultra users.
