On September 30, The Wall Street Journal reported that US President Trump had lunch with around 24 tech company CEOs and industry leaders on Tuesday, including Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, with whom he had previously had a strained relationship. Earlier, Trump had clashed with Amodei over the use of Anthropic's AI models by the military. Despite calls from Silicon Valley and the public for new AI safety mechanisms, Trump reiterated his policy of relaxed regulation, which drew criticism from Amodei. However, relations between the two have recently thawed, with their first face-to-face meeting taking place last Sunday, followed by Amodei's attendance at the White House lunch on Tuesday. During the meeting, Trump praised Amodei as 'outstanding' and signed an AI agreement with other tech leaders, proposing 'self-regulation' to address risks.
