On September 29 local time, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, stated during a Q&A session following the company's annual developer conference, DevDay, that OpenAI will not proceed with an initial public offering (IPO) until it can provide sufficient assurances regarding the safety of advanced artificial intelligence models. This means that, despite OpenAI becoming one of the world's most highly valued AI companies, going public is not a near-term priority.
