At its annual event, the U.S.-based online brokerage Robinhood rolled out a suite of innovative tools and services, with the highlight being its in-app AI assistant, dubbed Robinhood Agents. This intelligent assistant is designed to respond to market-related inquiries, craft tailored investment strategies, and autonomously oversee market activities and execute trades on behalf of users when they are preoccupied, thereby extending the sophisticated trading capabilities typically reserved for professional institutions to everyday retail investors. In addition to this, Robinhood is set to introduce perpetual futures contracts for cryptocurrencies, earnings-linked options, and is contemplating the launch of weekend stock trading services. Back in May of this year, the platform had already enabled users to integrate external AI agents into its trading system, resulting in roughly 150,000 users establishing AI-driven trading accounts. This latest update consolidates the entire trading experience within Robinhood's proprietary app, significantly reducing the barriers to entry. Users have the option to instruct the AI to keep a watchful eye on the market and carry out trades, with the system set to confirm each transaction by default—a feature that users can opt to deactivate manually. Furthermore, the AI is restricted to using funds from a designated agent account. Initially, Robinhood will provide access to large models developed by Anthropic and OpenAI, imposing a model usage fee on users, though OpenAI's Luna model will be offered free of charge for the remainder of 2026. The company has remained tight-lipped about whether it has entered into revenue-sharing agreements with AI service providers.
