On September 29, Reuters broke the news that artificial intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic had disclosed, in confidential initial public offering (IPO) documents, that it had inked a deal with SpaceX. Under this agreement, Anthropic plans to shell out up to $84.5 billion by 2029 to leverage SpaceX's AI computing resources, which are powered by Nvidia chips. Notably, the majority of this agreement can be terminated with just a 90-day notice. This figure far surpasses the scale that SpaceX had previously made public. Back in May of this year, Anthropic announced that it had entered into a computing power leasing pact with SpaceX. According to SpaceX's listing documents, Anthropic had agreed to pay $1.25 billion per month for a maximum contract term of three years, bringing the total to nearly $45 billion, and this, too, included a 90-day cancellation clause.
