Cheng Fubo, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), penned a signed article in New Industrialization, underscoring the imperative to actively foster and expand strategic emerging industries. These burgeoning and future-oriented sectors constitute the bedrock of constructing a modern industrial framework. Presently, the strategic deployment of central enterprises in these domains necessitates an accelerated enhancement in quality, given that certain industries are still in the process of forging competitive edges.
To tackle this challenge, it is crucial to ramp up endeavors in establishing emerging pillar industries. This involves adopting a nuanced strategy, grounded in the principles of 'leading, catching up, and nurturing,' to solidify strengths in sectors such as new energy, aerospace, and aviation. Concurrently, there should be a concentrated effort on cultivating areas like artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced materials, while proactively exploring and nurturing cutting-edge fields such as quantum technology, nuclear fusion energy, and biomanufacturing. Such an approach will catalyze the 'accumulation and flourishing' of emerging industries, paving the way for sustained growth and innovation.
