On Monday, Anthropic released the Sonnet 5.5 model, marking its second release after CEO Amodei called for a slowdown in development pace. Sonnet 5.5 offers faster performance at a lower cost, with Anthropic claiming it outperforms its predecessor in programming, executing clear tasks, and creating documents, slides, and spreadsheets. This release comes less than a week after Anthropic introduced its more expensive Opus 5.5 model, and the company also revealed on Monday that the cheapest model in the series, Haiku 5.5, is soon to be released.
