Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published an article on Sunday, outlining a vision for Ethereum's transformation by 2030. The plan aims to shift the network from a traditional blockchain to a system that integrates cryptographic proofs and external computing networks. In his article, titled The Cryptographic World Computer, Buterin stated that while the network might still be called a blockchain by then, its operational method would differ significantly from the current approach. He pointed out that the current Ethereum network requires every computer to repeatedly verify the computations behind transactions, which limits the improvement of transaction processing capacity. New cryptographic tools can break this limitation: one computer processes transactions and generates a brief mathematical proof, while other computers can verify this proof more quickly without repeating all the original computations. This will allow different computers to handle different tasks while cross-verifying results. Buterin expects that by 2030, Ethereum will fully adopt technologies such as minority Slot finality, PeerDAS, and SNARK verification to achieve cheaper, scalable, and private high-security computing.
