The Director-General of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce has provided insights into the outcomes of the eighth round of China-U.S. economic and trade consultations. During this round, both nations have reached a consensus, within the framework of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism, to initiate and conduct their inaugural Artificial Intelligence Dialogue. Vice Premier He Lifeng will represent China, while U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent will lead the American delegation. The dialogue will focus on exchanging perspectives regarding the potential risks and benefits associated with artificial intelligence. Both sides are committed to reconvening for the next dialogue before the end of November this year and have also agreed to establish a dedicated communication channel to address incidents related to artificial intelligence.
