On September 22 (local time), Intrinsic, a smart robotics software firm operating under Google’s parent company Alphabet, revealed its plans to open-source the essential components of its industrial robot platform. Alongside this, the company introduced a foundational software platform known as Intrinsic Core. The announcement took place at the ROSCon 2026 conference in Toronto, Canada. Licensed under the Apache 2.0 open-source agreement, this initiative is designed to empower a broader range of robotics developers by providing direct access to pre-configured foundational software, thereby expediting the advancement of intelligent robots and "physical AI."
