On September 21, SoftBank Group plans to issue bonds exceeding $11 billion, which could become one of the largest junk bond transactions in history. According to sources familiar with the matter on Monday, SoftBank, led by Masayoshi Son, is increasing its investment in OpenAI. Specifically, SoftBank intends to issue $10 billion in dollar-denominated bonds with three maturities, as well as €1 billion (approximately $1.1 billion) in euro-denominated bonds with two maturities. Part of the funds will be used to finance the follow-up investment in OpenAI, expected to be completed next month.
