Anthropic previously employed implicit routing to quietly redirect some Opus 5 requests to the unreleased Opus-Next for gray testing. The testing was paused at one point but later resumed and expanded in scope. Developers can determine if they have been included in this test by asking specific questions. This covert testing is designed to collect real-world data, preventing the leakage of trade secrets and biases in test data. Developers have noticed improvements in the capabilities of the new model. Currently, Opus 5.2 or a new version is about to be released.
