On September 20, StepFun introduced its premier base model, the Step 5 Preview. This cutting-edge model utilizes a sparse Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) framework, encompassing a staggering 600 billion parameters, with 27 billion actively engaged in processing. It can handle a context window extending up to 1 million tokens and seamlessly integrates both textual and visual inputs from the outset. Tailored specifically for AI programming, software engineering, and similar applications, the model is set to be made publicly available as open-source software on October 15.
