UBS has substantially raised its forecasts for artificial intelligence capital expenditures, noting that the sharp rise in memory costs is a key factor driving a new wave of AI investment expansion. This change has also influenced the industry benefit structure and economic effects of the AI investment cycle. According to UBS estimates, total global AI capital expenditures will reach US$998 billion in 2026, nearly doubling from 2025, and further rise to US$1.447 trillion by 2027. During the same period, global memory expenditures will surge from US$71 billion in 2025 to US$367 billion in 2026 and US$923 billion in 2027. Between 2025 and 2027, AI capital expenditures are expected to increase by nearly US$1 trillion, with approximately 90% of this increase stemming from the rise in memory expenditures.
