On September 18th, CNBC reported that as competition in AI infrastructure intensifies, Anthropic and OpenAI are seeking collaborations with smaller AI data centers. Over the past year, these two AI labs have signed multiple large-scale data center agreements involving capacities ranging from hundreds of megawatts to gigawatts. However, according to sources familiar with the matter, they are now also seeking agreements for small-scale computing power deployments of 20 to 30 megawatts. Among them, Anthropic has already engaged in discussions for such agreements in the UK and Northern Europe, while OpenAI has been exploring opportunities for small-capacity deployments in Northern Europe. Additionally, there are reports that these two companies have also held discussions regarding small-scale capacity deployments in the United States.
