On September 18th, news emerged that the Xingyu Telescope, a product of the National Astronomical Observatories under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has earned a place in Stanford University's "2026 AI Index Report" as a prime example of AI utilization in the global realms of physics and astronomy. This accolade signifies international acknowledgment of China's groundbreaking approach to leveraging AI in astronomical observation. The telescope seamlessly integrates large-scale AI models, intelligent agents, and telescope control systems, allowing AI to play a pivotal role at every stage of the astronomical observation process. Notably, it has issued early warnings for eight potential supernova candidates at an exceptionally early stage, with follow-up observations successfully conducted for two of these celestial events.
