On September 17, Nanning, Guangxi, played host to the 2026 China-ASEAN AI Ministerial Roundtable. The event drew representatives from AI-related departments of China and the 11 ASEAN member states, along with diplomatic envoys of ASEAN countries stationed in China. Additionally, key figures from leading AI enterprises, research institutions, and financial institutions across ASEAN nations also participated in the meeting.

During the roundtable discussions, participants engaged in thorough deliberations on the advancement, governance, application, and industrial collaboration of AI. Their focus centered on pivotal themes such as AI safety, ethics, and cooperation in data and security domains. The meeting witnessed the unveiling of a series of significant cooperation outcomes. These included the ASEAN-Focused AI Ethics and Security Cooperation Initiative, a range of AI security technology products and industry solutions, collections of case studies, as well as collaborative achievements spanning talent development, industry, education, and traditional Chinese medicine.
