As reported by Bloomberg, on September 15 (local time), during a dialogue with Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff at the Dreamforce conference in San Francisco, OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, voiced his conviction that AI firms can advance technology securely, without infringing upon the public's welfare. He expressed optimism that the entire sector could attain this objective. Altman underscored that the progression of AI technology and safety considerations are not inherently contradictory. As the technology evolves, companies within the industry are also bolstering their safety consciousness and capabilities. He further highlighted that ensuring AI safety cannot hinge solely on verbal assurances from companies; rather, it necessitates concurrent enhancements in model proficiency, alignment, security, and confidentiality. Earlier, Altman had clarified that, given the present state of AI technology safety, OpenAI would not opt for a public listing in 2026.
