On September 16, John Lee, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, announced the 'First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2026–2030).' This plan puts forward the idea of setting up a smart city management system, harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to boost the efficiency of urban management and safety governance. Presently, the SAR government is delving into the creation of an all-encompassing 'AI City Brain' management system. This system will make use of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things to enable real-time monitoring of urban management and operational conditions, early risk alerts, instant predictions, and coordinated handling. The overarching goal is to bolster urban resilience and establish a robust groundwork for sustained economic and social progress.
