During a recent interview, Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, voiced his disagreement with Anthropic's proposal. Anthropic suggested that government coordination or antitrust exemptions were necessary to collectively decelerate the advancement of state-of-the-art AI models. While Huang does recognize the significance of AI safety, he contends that, under the current legal framework, companies are capable of performing their own safety tests and refinements prior to launching products, thus eliminating the need for additional legislation. Furthermore, he debunked the idea that AI will trigger human extinction within the next ten years, asserting that humanity will implement robust safety measures and will avert extinction by 2030. As a major supplier to both Anthropic and OpenAI, and also an active developer of AI models, any slowdown in the development of high-performance models could potentially hinder NVIDIA's growth trajectory.
