On September 15 (local time), Google rolled out two cutting-edge real-time conversational models: Gemini 3.8 Live and Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking. These models are specifically crafted to boost voice interaction, real-time reasoning, and the handling of complex tasks. Gemini 3.8 Live boasts near-instantaneous visual input processing, seamlessly switches between 97 languages during dialogues, and has the capability to invoke tools and APIs in the background. Meanwhile, the Extended Thinking edition enables voice communication during the thinking process, rendering it ideal for tackling multi-step, intricate tasks. At present, developers can access both models via the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. Additionally, Gemini 3.8 Live has been concurrently launched on Search Live, whereas the Extended Thinking version is accessible to Gemini Live users.
