On September 15, insiders with knowledge of the situation revealed that ByteDance experienced a year-on-year decrease in net profit for the first half of 2026. This decline was attributed to escalated investments in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. Nevertheless, propelled by its overseas ventures, notably TikTok, the company's revenue for the same period witnessed a robust 30% year-on-year growth, with the share of revenue generated overseas reaching a record peak. ByteDance refrained from commenting on these figures. Sources indicated that while Douyin continues to be ByteDance's primary revenue stream, the income derived from its international operations, including TikTok, has surpassed 30% of the total revenue. This proportion has shown a consistent upward trend—25% in 2024, climbing to 30% in 2025, and continuing its ascent in the first half of 2026.
