At a forum dedicated to new employees, Guo Ping, Chairman of Huawei's Board of Supervisors, outlined the company's strategic vision for navigating the AI era. Huawei perceives AI as a pivotal opportunity, with its core strategy revolving around connectivity and computing, and currently, it has no intentions of diversifying its business scope. When it comes to large-scale model development, Huawei pursues a distinct approach: its ICT (Information and Communications Technology) and computing divisions support clients in constructing large models, while its terminal, intelligent driving, and Huawei Cloud units either adapt existing models or develop their own. Using carrier networks as a case study, Guo Ping elucidated the path of integrating traditional businesses with AI capabilities. He highlighted that the bedrock of AI competition rests on computing power, data, and talent. China boasts strengths in data application, and Huawei aims to attract top talent to forge a unique competitive edge. In the chip sector, despite constraints from advanced manufacturing processes, Huawei prioritizes the synergy between design and manufacturing, substituting 'geometric miniaturization' with 'time miniaturization'. The Ascend 950 series, for instance, boosts competitiveness through architectural innovation and leveraging cluster advantages. Guo Ping also remarked that AI could potentially be humanity's final technological revolution, necessitating Huawei to align its organizational and talent resources accordingly. He stressed that in the AI era, humans should concentrate on precisely defining problems, addressing real-world challenges, and engaging in continuous learning.
