On September 16, as reported by the Financial Times, OpenAI is currently in the preliminary stages of discussions with investors concerning a fresh round of private funding. The objective is to achieve a valuation of around US$1.2 trillion, thereby laying the groundwork for a potential future Initial Public Offering (IPO). Earlier in March of this year, OpenAI attained a valuation of US$852 billion following the completion of a funding round. Lately, spurred by the release of its latest AI models, which have sparked a renewed surge in market demand, OpenAI is actively engaged in talks with significant investors regarding additional funding. At present, these negotiations are still in their nascent phase, and the ultimate valuation and funding scale are subject to change.

OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, has expressed that the company's IPO might not materialize before 2027. He believes that going public is not the optimal choice amid the escalating discourse surrounding AI safety risks. Reports suggest that following the launch of new models like GPT-5.6 and Astra, OpenAI has witnessed an accelerated growth in revenue, with its annualized revenue surpassing US$40 billion. Despite the company's previous assertion of having adequate funds, the ongoing training of large models still necessitates substantial and continuous capital investment.
