On September 15, foreign media reported that OpenAI is joining forces with its main competitors, Anthropic and Google DeepMind, to jointly develop measures to address artificial intelligence safety concerns, in response to industry worries about the potential economic and security threats posed by AI technology. Chris Lehane, OpenAI's Head of Global Policy, revealed on Tuesday that the three-party collaboration has been ongoing for several weeks, and OpenAI believes that coordination on safety issues does not require antitrust exemptions. Lehane emphasized that the three companies have chosen to prioritize safety over competition in tackling challenges. He cited examples of prior collaboration in the safety sector, noting that industries like aviation often enhance safety levels through mutual assistance.
