Initially, Google restricted the use of this model to a select few internal teams, mandating the majority of its employees to primarily utilize its in-house Gemini large model for development purposes. With this latest update, every engineer now has the ability to tap into Opus 5 through the Antigravity platform, with the platform itself overseeing usage patterns to guarantee data security.

As a principal investor in Anthropic, Google revealed earlier in the year its intention to invest a staggering cumulative sum of up to $40 billion in the company. The decision to broaden access is perceived as a significant stride in fortifying their partnership. Google has officially clarified that Gemini continues to be the cornerstone model for internal development endeavors, with third-party models being employed solely to fill in the gaps for specific scenarios not addressed by Gemini, thereby boosting engineers' productivity.
