On September 14, Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, a oilfield services company (BKR.O), stated that there is currently no evidence of a slowdown in investments in large-scale energy projects due to rising borrowing costs. He pointed out that the construction of global artificial intelligence infrastructure is driving strong demand for natural gas and electricity. Simonelli said that the availability of financing for projects primarily depends on existing off-take agreements and the outlook for energy demand. Although financing is a crucial factor in project considerations, the increasing energy demand driven by population growth, industrial development, and data centers continues to drive related investments.
